Outreach

Working with High School Teachers and Students

The EU is not well known in the United States, especially among high school students. The purpose of this outreach activity is to work with the EU Delegation in Washington, DC, and the World Affairs Council to help promote knowledge and awareness of the EU among U.S. high school teachers and students. This collaboration resulted in a contribution on the EU at the World Affairs Council Professional Development Workshop for Educators, held in conjunction with the EU Delegation, in Washington, D.C. on October 29, 2011

The EU in Higher Education

This outreach activity seeks to promote knowledge and awareness in the U.S. of the EU’s involvement in higher education programs. An important initiative in this respect was a visit to the George Mason University School of Public Policy, Arlington, Virginia in November 2011 by Xavier Prats-Monné, Deputy Director General from Directorate-General Education and Culture, European Commission, who delivered a lecture on “Globalization and Internationalization of Third-Level Education: A European Perspective.”
